Announcing a new build available now. The Peppermint Ranchita.
This is the first Ranchita with a solid cover paint job. It draws inspirations from midcentry automotive styling, with bright colors and lots of chrome. The basswood body and cherry neck sport a glossy peppermint pearl finish. This accentuates the german carve, forearm countour and sculpted heel.
The streaked hickory fretboard features brass star inlays
The pickups are made by Revel pickups in Minneapolis. These are standard humbucker sized versions of his wide range style pickups. Threaded magnet pole pieces make these sound clear and bright. They will cut through great in a band situation, and I can’t wait to hear them on stage (Clockwork Jam, Template OB). The engraved covered are some of the prettiest in the buissness. I’ve created a retro style ring for these, that harkens back to the silvertone Chris Isaak model, with a nod to America’s most ubiquitis diner chain.
I was excited to try the Fender Panorama tremolo. It differs from a standard JM tremolo in some substaintial ways. Check out the excellent videos done by 60cycle hum on this topic. I have upgraded the spring, and installed a modified retainer that will improve performance over the stock spring.
A Gotoh nashville TOM, Forney Custom knobs and jack round out the rest of the hardware. I’ve used 500k CTS pots, and a switchcraft switch. The tone cap is .02uF. Gotoh 510 tuners are installed on the straight headstock.
Please reach out if your interested in additional specs. I’m asking $2,000 for this piece, including the Mother Mary gig bag pictured.
Thanks,
Justin Motander Jones
